SANDRA'S CENTS: MY COUNTRY: "I was born and raised in a country that was more concerned with the health and well being of it's people than it was with money. A country ..."
MY COUNTRY
I was born and raised in a country that was more concerned with the health and well being of it's people than it was with money.
A country that set and maintained high standards of conduct when dealing with
our own and those of another country.
A country that could be counted on to help and guide others around the world,
As a lighthouse guided ships in the night.
A country that held itself with dignity and earned it's respect,
No matter the circumstances under which it was found to be in.
We,as a country were an example of just law and the international keeper of
freedoms.
We were the beacon of goodwill and all other nations saw in us the highest
example of morality.
Today however,I find myself living in a country where money can buy anything-
Even when human life is at stake.
A country where greed is all too abundant.
A country whose conduct has not only been questioned on numerous
occasions throughout time but, whose conduct has been shown to be deceitful
and in the words of our military,unbecoming.
The worst can only be described as sadistic.(secret experiments on our own-
for one example)
A country whose guiding light has been found to be misleading.
A light that no longer beckons so much as it blinds.
A country that forgot dignity and does not so much earn it's respect
as it demands it.---Much like the dictatorships of other nations we claim to
despise.
A country that claims to condemn terrorists and the actions there of.
Yet,before my eyes there on t.v was our own,dumping the dead body of
a terrorist into the sea for everyone around the world to view.It was'nt enough
he was dead.
-And then the dancing and/or celebrating on camera---much like terrorists do
after taking a hostage........not only owning the deed but then making a video
to document what happens next----sometimes,exploiting the body to the world
before "dumping" it.
A country that crossed a line and let the world see it.Morality clearly not
present...........A "Do as I say,not as I do" type of thing.
A countrys goodwill and freedoms going to the highest bidder,
As the land inside it's borders.
The country I was born in and raised in,
The country I find myself living in today,
are infact,one in the same.
The difference being that one is the ideals of the young
(which I now keep in my heart)
The other is the reality in which I live, that comes with years.
As with fairytales,I could'nt keep my eyes closed forever.
I love my country.I am grateful to have been fortunate enough to be
a born citizen.However,it saddens me to know that what is TRULY
important and what is deemed as important,are often two different things.
Somewhere,back in our country's history,it was decided that "WE THE PEOPLE"
meant only a "select" group.
Somewhere.....................WE lost our way.

SANDRA'S CENTS: FOOTBALL......IT IS WHAT IT IS: "I've been a football fan since I was born--raised on it,And while I had always been a packer backer,I realized the game had changed when BRE..."
FOOTBALL......IT IS WHAT IT IS
I've been a football fan since I was born--raised on it,And while I had always been a packer backer,I realized the game had changed when BRETT FAVRE stepped on the field.Brett brought enthusiasm and excitement to football that no other player had---NOT like Brett!
So when Brett no longer had a team with the Green bay Packers,but STILL wanted
to play (turning down millions to quit) It confirmed his love of the game like
no other.I,who LOVED watching him,would STILL watch and root for him
no matter what color his jersey was.
Brett Favre is a LEGEND of football......and if you're REALLY a football fan,
YOU KNOW IT!
Brett deserves to be honored as the football player he was---Nothing else matters.
Nothing should delay or stand in the way of giving the man his due for
his accomplishments in football.
.......And just think for a moment--If you were to judge AND eliminate a player
for his conduct on AND OFF the field,
DO YOU REALLY THINK WE'D HAVE AS MANY PLAYERS IN THE HALL OF FAME
OR AS MANY TEAMS AS WE DO?...........REALLY?
You'd be shocked to discover football players ,like anyone else ,DO NOT
pledge to be perfect enough to wear "angels wings" and there's NO provision
in their contracts for such. THEY ARE PAID TO PLAY FOOTBALL.
Let's see........
Atleast,a third of the NFL players would be eliminated because of DWI'S
Another 1/4 for drug use
Then you have the wife beaters,the sexual assaulters,the adulterers,
players with lewd or lashivious behavior,disorderly conduct,players
with speeding and/or parking tickets,players whom don't pay child support,
and yet more for fighting.
Players whom use God's name in vain and one's whom don't call mom.
YOU get my drift.
You'd see what you'd be eliminating?
There goes the NFL!
NFL ,in case you forgot,stands for NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE
NOT National Football of the Perfectly Divine League!
FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE AS HUMAN AS WE ALL ARE..........
AND HUMANS MAKE MISTAKES.......some worse than others but mistakes.
The fact is,you can pick apart anyone,in any sport,in any household etc...
BUT,football is STILL football AND I KNOW FOOTBALL!
I've seen players come and go in the 5 decades I've lived.
There has only been ONE BRETT FAVRE when it comes to the game.
I will miss him and to be honest,don't know how anyone else can possibly
fill the void that he left when he walked off the field for the last time.
Yes,Football is what it is .............and Brett favre is too!

A MOM'S BLESSINGS
Being a Mom takes common sense and like a scientist, some trial and error.. My 5 (yes 5,thank-you very much) children taught me just as much as I taught them--and when the rules of common sense go out the window,you stay strong and unmoved -(NOT THAT THERE WERE'NT MOMENTS OF PURE LUNACY!) I prayed ALOT ..A Mom does'nt strive for popularity- A Mom works not for the good of herself but for the good of her children-Always.........NOONE on this Earth comes before her children. As a Mom,making mistakes ,although a human thing to do,is frustrating , a MOTHER KNOWS WHEN SHE GOOFS! The goal then is to go into salvage mode and learn from the one's you make but still, try and make as few as possible.When the world says "YES" but Mom says "NO" ........usually,Mom
knows best. My children are grown but still,here I am their Mother.........And .It's the greatest thing when your children say, "I was listening Mom even when you thought I was'nt.......I remember" or " Mom ,when you tell me something,I know I should listen,you are always right."....or "You know everything" I've heard them all and watching them now.......WORTH EVERYTHING AND MORE!
I LOVE YOU KIDS.......YOU are 5 of the BEST reasons for MOTHER'S DAY!!!!......AND TO MY own MOTHER .....I UNDERSTAND FROM WHAT YOU ALONE TAUGHT ME AND I TO WAS LISTENING.........I LOVE YOU MOM.

TRADITION
With Easter only a week away,I've been busy.Our 5 children ,spouses,boyfhiends and 4 grandchildren will be coming for Easter dinner. Although,our children range in age from 31 - 19--they still get a Easter basket
of sorts.It may not be toy or candy laden these days,but I do get each of them something special as a frame
a wall plaque ect.and include some hersheys kisses.I might also put in some of my homebaked muffins they
love for each of them.-Whatever finds it's way into their "basket",is put there out of love.After all,my kids are still my kids,-regardless of age.
I also make "baskets" for my parents and husbands mom - all together 12 "baskets" had to be made.
So when we gather to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and enjoy a traditional Easter dinner,the
Easter "baskets" will appear as they always have,at my house too.
WISHING EVERYONE A SAFE AND BLESSED EASTER!

LATER
(I first want to make it clear,I feel for the people of Japan,for the devastation and loss they have suffered due to the quake and tsunami.)
Now though,I need to sound off on the nuclear mess that has come to light.I am disgusted that when these plants are built,there is little or no thought to safety and procedures BEFORE something like what has happened happens!Either people decided NOTHING was ever going to happen or They looked at it as a
"WORRY ABOUT IT LATER" thing.
I heard this morning that RADIOACTIVE WATER ,A 100x the safe concentration, is going to be DUMPED in the ocean to" make room" for even HIGHER RADIOACTIVE WASTE.
It is no threat to humans......REALLY? Studies have been done? WHAT ABOUT THE ANIMALS?
NO mention of them what so ever.......
And if they need to "MAKE ROOM" for even higher radioactive waste now,Is there going to be MORE
LATER??.........If so,is this to going to be DUMPED in the ocean to "make room" for even WORSE waste?...........HAS ANY THOUGHT BEEN GIVEN?
OUR Planet is SUFFERING from human DUMPING of ALL kinds---HOW MUCH
DUMPING
IS EVER GOING TO BE ENOUGH---
ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD CAN'T REPLACE ANY ONE LIFE ONCE IT HAS GONE....
EACH AND EVERYONE OF US IS PART OF ALL LIFE AND ALL LIFE IS PART OF US
ON THIS PLANET..............
